Bringing STEM to Life
Mr. Barringer was born in northern New York State and grew up in a small town a little south of Canada. He attended Saint Michael’s College in Vermont where he earned his undergraduate degree in Teaching and Psychology. After college, Mr. Barringer moved south to teach 3rd and 4th grade in Durham for five years. After moving to Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Mr. Barringer earned his Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from NC State University. He has been working at Carrboro Elementary School as the Instructional Technology Facilitator ever since.
Steve's Camp Motivation
One of my favorite things about working in a school is the ability to use summers to focus on things I really love to do. Obviously, technology is one of my passions but another one is building and creating. This is why I helped Carrboro Elementary create a makerspace at the school. It is a great place for students to get some really good hands-on problem solving and get the feeling of being able to create something that helps others.
